Challenge
The client used barcodes to identify, track, and process goods across its manufacturing and logistics chain. Barcodes worked, but they had limits: each scan required line of sight, many handling steps were still manual, and product registration happened only at fixed points in the process.
RFID was already used in parts of the operation, but the client was not getting the full value from it. Tags were applied during production, while the link between each RFID tag and the product was created later, during intake. Traceability therefore started later than it needed to, manual work remained, and supplier production data was not yet part of the client’s ERP workflow at the right moment.
The goal was to move from barcode-based identification to an RFID process that improved logistics, reduced manual handling, and registered products earlier in the supply chain.

Implementation
Isatis extended the client’s custom ERP environment into the production process of a key supplier. Instead of waiting until goods arrived at intake, the supplier can now link RFID tags to products when they are produced.
The solution supports both semi-finished and finished goods, so products can be identified before they leave the supplier’s facility. RFID scanners were configured and calibrated on site, and the new registration flow was integrated with the existing ERP environment. Supplier-side data now enters the operational process immediately.
- RFID tags linked to products at the supplier, during production
- Support for both semi-finished and finished goods
- RFID scanners configured and calibrated on site
- Registration flow integrated with the existing custom ERP environment
- Supplier production data immediately available in the operational process
This connected production, logistics, and supply chain administration. The implementation did not add RFID as a separate layer. It built RFID into the client’s core business system, so product identification happens earlier, with less manual work and fewer process gaps.

Result
The client now has a more traceable supply chain. Products are registered earlier, intake work is reduced, and logistics teams can see product information before goods arrive.
By linking RFID tags to products during production, the process gives the client traceability across supplier and client operations. It speeds up processing, reduces administrative work, and supports more reliable logistics in a healthcare supply environment where accuracy and consistency matter.
The change is more than a technical move from barcodes to RFID. It improves the operating process: supplier integration is stronger, product visibility starts earlier, manual work is reduced, and goods can be handled faster across the chain.
